Bulletin November 7, 2022 – Primary Care Provider Shortage

We have been dealing with a shortage of family doctors in the Bow Valley now for several months. This has been a challenge as we try to keep our community in optimal health. The Bow Valley PCN is exploring opportunities with community partners for doctor recruitment and retention, which is a shared responsibility between various organizations.

Residents seeking a primary care provider:
We encourage all residents seeking a primary care provider to get on the PCN waitlist to be notified when a resource becomes available. Please fill out this form to join the list.

Doctors interested in relocating to the Bow Valley:
For physicians interested in working in the Bow Valley, please visit the Physician Career Postings page to find out what positions are open.

How to support our current primary care providers:

  • Share Physician Career Postings with doctors you know outside of the area.
  • If you live outside of the Bow Valley but have a residence here, consider switching to a family doctor in the city to make space for permanent residents who are not be able to travel out of town for their appointments.
