Lantern Walks make happy memories shine

Bow Valley PCN is teaming up with Right from the Start (a mental health capacity building program in various Bow Valley Schools) to invite students, their families and community members to participate in What Lights You Up?

In their classrooms, students will answer the questions, "What lights you up…what brings you joy?" and how reflecting on a time that made them happy can positively impact them. Then, inspired by these cheerful memories, they will make a lantern to bring to the event. Participants are encouraged to be creative and bring the lanterns or other devices to light up the route while they participate in the Lantern Walk along the river paths. No lantern? No problem.  The organizers will have extras available to borrow.

Emotional wellbeing

"Our aim is to promote mental wellness as well as to celebrate how community connections, being in nature and participating in physical activity can foster emotional wellbeing," says the PCN's Randi Lynn Rinaldi.

These are community events, so friends and family are welcome.  Attractions include draw prizes, plus firepits and free hot chocolate (please bring your own mug) to help embrace winter. "We'll have some extra lights along the pathways for these short walks and we ask everyone to be sure to come dressed for the weather," Randi adds.

No registration is required for these FREE community events. Please arrive at 6:30 for the kick off.
